Nyokum Yullo is the principal festival of the Nyishi, Arunachal's largest community, held on 26 February each year to invoke Nyokum for a good harvest and the wellbeing of everyone present. It is a prayer festival rather than a performance, and it looks like one - bamboo altars, a Nyibu priest chanting for hours, mithun and fowl, and apong passed round constantly.
It happens in villages across the Nyishi belt around Itanagar and in the Papum Pare and Kurung Kumey districts. Because it is a fixed date rather than a lunar one you can plan around it precisely, which is unusual for a North East festival and makes it the easiest of them to build a trip on.
