Sualkuchi is a weaving town rather than a museum - thousands of handlooms in family workshops, and the constant clack of them down every lane. The golden muga silk woven here is native to Assam and produced nowhere else on earth.
We take you into working households rather than a showroom, so you see the thread being reeled and the mekhela sador being woven, and you buy directly from the people who made it if you want to.
