Nameri sits against the Arunachal foothills and is the antidote to Kaziranga's jeep traffic. The rafting is easy water rather than white-knuckle - you drift down the Jia Bhoroli through forest, with hornbills overhead and, if you're lucky, elephants on the bank.
It's also one of the few parks in India you can walk in with an armed guard rather than driving through, and the birding is genuinely world-class - the white-winged wood duck is the headline.
