Three nights in Kaziranga and three jeep safaris, each in a different range. That is the whole idea of this trip.
Most visitors do one drive at Kohora and leave. We take you to the Central range, then the Western, then the Eastern. Each one looks different. Each has its own grass, water and birds.
Kaziranga is home to about two-thirds of the world's one-horned rhinos. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, four to five hours from Guwahati by road. No permits, and one hotel for all three nights.
The journey at a glance
4 days, shaped around you.
- Day 01
Guwahati → Kaziranga
Guwahati → Nagaon → Kaziranga

Your driver meets you at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station. The road runs east through Nagaon, about four to five hours in all. Tea gardens line the last part of the drive, flat green rows under tall shade trees. Check in near Bokakhat. If there is light left, we stop at the Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park at Durgapur, near Kohora. Then an early night, because the first jeep goes out in the morning.
- Airport or station pickup
- Drive via Nagaon
- Tea gardens on the approach
- Orchid and Biodiversity Park (time permitting)
- Check-in near Bokakhat
The Orchid Park needs an arrival in Guwahati by late morning. On a later flight we skip it and go straight to the resort.

- Day 02
Two safaris, two ranges
Kohora (Central) · Bagori (Western)

The morning jeep goes into the Central range at Kohora. This is tall elephant grass and shallow pools, and the best known ground in the park. One-horned rhino graze here with egrets at their feet, and wild buffalo and swamp deer share the same ground. Back to the resort for breakfast and a rest. In the afternoon the jeep goes out again, this time into the Western range at Bagori. It is more open country, and it feels like a different park.
- Morning jeep safari, Central range (Kohora)
- Breakfast at the resort
- Afternoon jeep safari, Western range (Bagori)
- Rhino, wild buffalo, swamp deer
Jeep slots are set by the forest department: about 7:30 to 10:00 in the morning and 1:30 to 3:00 in the afternoon this season. Times can change, and we follow them.

The Eastern range, and Kakochang Falls
Agoratoli (Eastern) · Kakochang
The last safari goes into the Eastern range at Agoratoli. This side of the park is wetland, and it is the one for birds. After breakfast the afternoon is slower. We drive out to Kakochang Falls, about 13 km from Bokakhat. Assam Tourism lists the old ruins at Deoparbat, near Numaligarh, among the sights close by. Back to the resort for your last evening in Kaziranga.

The Eastern range can open later in the season than Central and Western. If Agoratoli is not open on your safari day, we move this safari to another open range.
